Description

After great success with the website for Boone County Millwork, the brother (literally) company was looking for an interactive tool to draw customers and build loyalty among local builders. They wanted something that would showcase the different types of siding that they carry and highlight the fact that much of the selection is in stock and able to be delivered to the building site the same or next day.

The Interactive siding Chooser came from the idea of providing home buyers with a toy to play with that can provide real feedback. We decided that the tool must be able to display all of the different colors in two types of siding as well as all of the colors of soffit and fascia. It also had to be able to temporarily save favorites and produce a printed copy and/or send the results by email to Boone County Lumber.

The picture of the house used in the chooser served mostly as a template. To truly provide the full functionality and maintain as much realism as possible across both siding types (vinyl and fiber cement) I decided to digitally reconstruct most of the house using Macromedia Fireworks. In the end, the only remaining elements of the photo are the shingles on the roof and the window. The reconstruction work on the house allowed me to achieve a high level of realism.

Once the image was flattened into its various layers, they were imported into Flash for animation and scripting to create all of the transitions and functionality.

* Agency Work: This project was produced while working as Interactive Director at an agency in Mid-Missouri. All agency work that I display, unless noted, was executed by me from concept to design and code.
